Our History

Pacific Grove has always had close ties with the Methodist Church -- the city was started as a Methodist retreat in 1887. Click here to learn more about our church's historic role.

Our Membership

There are two ways to unite with our church family.

Transfer of Membership: for those who are a member of another United Methodist Church or other church.
Professing ones faith in God through Christ: for those who are joining a church for the first time. If you have not received the sacrament of Holy Baptism, this is an opportunity to be baptized.

Other Membership Options:

If you want to participate in the fellowship of this congregation, receive pastoral care, be involved in committee activities, and maintain your membership with another United Methodist Church, you may join this church family as an affiliate member.

If you want to participate in the fellowship of this congregation, receive pastoral care, be involved in church activities, and maintain your membership with another denomination, you may join this church family as an associate member.

Weddings

Our surrounding forest of pine trees and butterflies (wintertime), and our beautiful sanctuary is the scene for weddings at First United Methodist Church! Near the entrance to Pebble Beach and Asilomar State Beach, we are at the perfect location for an exciting wedding. Our staff offers complete wedding services, and we can assist you in finding the best resources to make your celebration of marriage all you hope it will be.
